PROJECTS

-

  • Word Sense Disambiguation of Hindi : Indian Languages have very limited language processing resources. In this scenario, we developed an unsupervised algorithm to do word sense disambiguation of Hindi. Also we have explored the possibility of obtaining selectional restrictions of verbs from it.

  • POS tagging using Neural Network for Hindi: While the existing Machine Learning algorithms work very well when trained on huge amounts of tagged data, they fare badly when there is limited amount of tagged data. There is need for new machine learning algorithms due to this scarcity of tagged data. So i explored the possibility of using a Neural Network to do the task of POS tagging. While the state of art accuracy is 82% i got 72% accuracy using Back Propagation Neural Network.

  • Hindi-English Machine Translation System: I have implemented IBM Model-1, used to learn translation parameters. Even though this is a naive system, i was very happy on seeing the machine translate some sentences from English to Hindi.
